Four Egyptian Teenagers Face Trial For Making Fun of Islam

Four Egyptian teenagers and their teacher have been detained for making fun at ISIS in a harmless video. The teenager aged 15 and 16 could face up to 5 years in a youth detention center while the teacher faces 7 years imprisonment.

It all happened during a faith based excursion in February when the teacher Gad Younan, 42 allowed the boys to shoot a video on his mobile phone in their hotel room. In the video, the boys mocked the terrorist organisation by kneeling on the ground to pray hysterically and imitating a beheading. The teacher misplaced his phone's memory card and it was picked up by a Muslim neighbor in Al-Nasriyah village in Upper Egypt

In the Egyptian Penal Code Article 98(f), it criminalizes a series of faith related comments, including insulting a heavenly religion or a sect following it.
A Coptic activist and researcher of the Egyptian Commission for rights and freedom said ''They used some words that are in Muslim prayers but they are in no way being disrespectful to Islam''.
The International Christian Concern group is currently monitoring the case and have held that the Sunni Islamic majority in Egypt use their blasphemy laws to persecute religious minorities. In Egypt Christians ate estimated to make up to 10 percent of the country;'s 88 million people.
