What is Zika?
Zika is a virus that is transmitted to humans by mosquitoes. This Aedes aegypti mosquito carries dengue fever and yellow fever. In 1940's it was discovered in Africa. This virus causes babies to be born with small heads
Symtoms of Zika
The most common symptoms of Zika are fever, rash, joint pain, red eyes, muscle pain, abdominal pain and headache. However most people show no symptoms.
Is there a cure for Zika?
For now, there is no cure but scientist are working day and night to find a cure.
How can it be prevented?
Clear stagnant water where mosquitoes breed and protect yourself against mosquito bites.
In Brazil, about 4,000 babies have been affected by Zika. Women have been advised by the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention to stay away from these countries; Bolivia, Ecuador, Guyana, Brazil, Colombia, El Salvador, French Guiana, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Suruname, Barbados, Saint martin, Haiti, Martinique, Puerto Rico, Guadeloupe, Samoa and Cape Verde.
Am truly going to sound spiritual now, but why wont i? Take a look around, terrorism is creeping into almost every country. In Nigeria, when we are trying to breath in and say thank God we have defeated Boko Haram, Biafra decided to surface and now its war against Niger Delta militants. Don't you think this is the best time to draw closer to God? Is this really a sign of end time?
Too many questions running through my head, but the bottom line is that while we draw closer to God, my mum use to say ''cleanliness is next to godliness''. Please work on your personal hygiene. Keep your environment clean. A clean home harbors no disease.
