Girls as young as eight being forced to go to sex camps in Mozambique and Zambia to prepare them for child marriage

Girls as young as eight in Mozambique and Zambia are forced to go to camps where they will be taught how to please a man in bed. This they say is done in order to prepare them for married life. This was made known by activists at an international conference on ending child marriage. During the training, sticks are being inserted inside the girls.

Persilia Muianga of International aid strategy world vision said that mothers force young daughters to sleep with a man in the belief that it will bring on Menstruation.

Anglican priest Jackson Jones Katete said this entire process happens to girls between the ages of 8 and 13. He added that men do not want to marry girls unless they have been initiated. He said;



''Immediately the girls come out of camp, they are saying you are now ready for sex''.
The training which can last a week teaches girls about hygiene, domestic duties and how to conduct themselves in the community. Community leasers fine parents who don't take their daughters to the camp.
Nearly half of girls in Mozambique and more than 40 percent in Zambia are married before they turn 18, even though child marriage is illegal in both countries
