Percy Sledge "When a Man Loves a Woman'' is Dead

R&B singer whose soulful music of eternal love and rejection touched the hearts of many has died. Percy Sledge who sang ''When a man loves a woman'' died yesterday Tuesday April 14th in Baton Rouge, Los Angeles. He died at the age of 74.
Percy Sledge who use to pick cotton and work as a ward assistant in a hospital, rose to fame when he started singing in clubs and colleges on weekends. ''When a man loves a woman'' was his first recording for Atlantic Records after a patient at the hospital he works for introduced him to the record producer Quin Ivy. The song reached No 1 on the pop charts in 1966 and sold more than a mill8ion copies. Rest in Peace Percy
