The Minister of Petroleum, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke have denied the allegation that she was seeking for asylum in six different countries.
The Business Council For Africa (BCA) yesterday claimed that Mrs. Alison- Madueke was seeking asylum in six countries and have been denied so far. It stated that she was running from the country before Major General Muhammadu Buhari takes over the seat by May 29th, so she can escape being probed or put in jail.
The publication stated that since 1960- 2005 the looting of Nigerian treasury has amounted to US$1 trillion. While BCA congratulated Nigerians on a peaceful election, it observed that if the 2011 elections was considered bad, the 2015 election will undoubtedly go down as the most corrupt in Nigeria's history because of the amount of money being distributed as bribes primarily by the People's Democratic Party, PDP.
Reacting to the allegations, the Group Public Affairs General Manager of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Mr. Ohi Alege said it is a fabrication aimed at confusing some gullible persons. He said;
“I want to say that the Minister of Petroleum has never contemplated going on asylum in any part of the world and has never applied for any. The minister has only gone for a short vacation abroad and will soon return to Nigeria, having no reason to leave her job and country for any other place. Given her reputation, it comes as no surprise to learn that six countries have already refused to grant her asylum to live in their countries as she now wishes to leave Nigeria at the earliest possible opportunity,”
Business Council for Africa was established in 1956 and their mission is to encourage better business in Africa for the benefit of members and the sustainable economical development of the countries in Africa.
