Yesterday my colleagues and I (as On Air Personalities) asked listeners to explain to us what they think about chewing gum. The response we got was amazing and some health benefits, disturbing side effects of chewing gum were revealed. So i decided to share it with you all.
First of all, I don't mean to irritate you but do you know that gum is made from sheep wool called Lanolin. It helps to make it soft. *facts*
Some people chew because they need a fresh breath, or just to keep the mouth busy while others chew just for chewing sake. Which ever one you choose, time to know more about chewing gums.
- Do you know that chewing gum is actually good for the brain? I guess you didn't. Study reveals that chewing gum can boost thinking and alertness. It helps to boost your memory and also encourages blood flow to the brain. Maybe you haven't taken note, but when you chew gum, your heart rate increases and more oxygen is delivered to your brain area.
- Chewing gum can help you fight stress and anxiety. Research shows that chewing gum during exams can help students to be more alert and focused. Apart from stress, whenever you feel irritated or frustrated, chewing gum can help you relax.
- If you have bad breath or gum infection, you might want to chew some gum to relieve these symptoms. When you chew gum, your saliva production is stimulated.
- If you are trying to loose weight and also cutting down on the food you take in, then i think you should try chewing gum. Chewing gum has been seen as a means to loose food craving
In as much as there are many benefits, lets look at the side effects of chewing gum.
- Chewing gum causes you to swallow excess air and this can lead to big tummy or stomach pain. So even if you want to chew, don't chew all the time abeg. Especially if you want your tummy to be flat.
- Yes its true that chewing gum can help you have a fresh breath. But it can also lead to tooth decay. This is because you are bathing your teeth with sugar and as our mothers use to say when we were little, ''sugar is not good for your teeth"

I think you are right lady Uvbi....i think chewing gum is also good for people with tendencies of stroke...like i said i think am not sure...and also,Most chewing gums produced here locally,are always of low quality and filled with sugar,thereby causing tooth decay...I love what your doing here...keep up the good work...Nd personally i love the way you combine Humility with Virtue...ur one great lady!....
