Why Do We Still Have Old People Ruling Us in Nigeria?

I have been of the opinion that its time for the youth to take over the political atmosphere in Nigeria, because am tired of hearing the likes of Obasanjo, IBB, Buhari, Ribadu and the list goes on.
Someone sent me this message on my bbm that speaks my mind too...it says;

1985, IBB was the president of Nigeria and our teachers told us that Buhari was the former Head of state. Our teacher also called us "the leaders of tomorrow" 27 years later, IBB and Buhari are still contesting for Presidency.
Its either our teacher lied to us about being the leaders of tomorrow. Or tomorrow is yet to come. Who's fooling who?

In 1983, Bamanga Tukur was the Governor of the defunct Gongola State (now Adamawa & Taraba) and 30 years later he is today the Chairman of the ruling Party,

The PDP.Dr. Bello Halliru was commissioner in the Old Sokoto State (now Sokoto, Kebbi & Zamfara) and 33 years after he is today Minister of Defence.Major General David Mark(rtd) was the military governor of Niger State in 1984 and 28years later he is today the Senate President. Gov.

Murtala Nyako was the governor of Niger State in 1976 and 36years later he is today the Governor of Adamawa State. (However, impeached 15 july 2014). Ogbonnaya Onu was governor of Abia State in 1992 and 20years after he is today the National Chairman of ANPP.Gov.

David Jonah Jang was the governor of Benue State in 1985 and 27years after he is today the governor of plateau state.

Martins Elechi the Ebonyi State Governor is over 80 years old!Only in Nigeria is this possible, where the youth of today have no hope into the future!

From strike in health sector, to the labour, to judiciary, to Education and today our students are home lavishing!Let Nigerian youth come to an alliance and fight for the unborn. We can't continue like this. Pass it to everyone if you believe in the NIGERIA DREAM. Let?s tell them ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! SHARE this till they see it. It?s a good place to start. I foresee a revolution

For me,  its time for them to step down and give room to other people to try and rule us. These God Father-ism is becoming too much. Are the youths the solution?. For me oh, i think most of our youths are too lazy...am sorry to say. How many of them have brought change in Nigeria?

Most of them just shout and shout amd when given the opportunity and avenue to do something, they do nothing. Asari Dokunbo the Niger Delta militant fought for the people in Niger Delta, but today, i heard he has one of the best schools in Benin Republic...hmmm. i rest here...

Dr Jubril Olabode Aka, Ph.D.says "All those being investigated by the EFCC and ICPC in politics and banking businesses are young generation of elite Nigerians. Old politicians might have stolen hundreds and thousands of Naira but never millions and billions like the younger generation of politicians that Nigeria has witnessed in recent years up to date.

Do you agree?

He also went further to say ''it is easy to conclude that the younger generation of Nigerian politicians have done worse by compounding Nigerian socio-economic, image and political problems instead of solving them. It is discriminatory to disqualify a qualified politician from contesting elections because of his/her age, if he/she has not breached the Nigerian Constitution. Whoever feels he/she is qualified should get out there and talk to the electorate in the primaries and be allowed to compete in a transparent, just and fair election irrespective of his/her sex, religion, ethnicity, region/zone of origin etc...''.

Recently President Gooduck Jonathan came out to say he wants age limit for presidency abolished.

The Nigeria Constitution currently stipulates 40 years as the minimum age for anybody seeking the highest office in the land. This doesnt give opportunity to the youths at all.

The president also stated that experience had shown him that the youths are comfortable living with people of different ethnic groups or religions, unlike the elderly people.
The youths live with whomever they are comfortable with regardless of ethnic or religious affiliation; they want to marry whomever they love.

“They are not like those old people who are disturbing us, who want to divide us based on religion and all kinds of sentiments,” he said.

What do you think?
